HISTORY FAIR DUE DATES
History Fair Timeline - 7TH GRADE CIVICS
River City Science Academy
Theme:
1. DUE:
October 16, 2013
Proposal and preliminary research to narrow or
expand topic. Students will write a 100 – 200 word paragraph to
propose topic and explain why it was selected and meets the expectations of the
theme for this years history fair.
NEXT
STEPS:
Select presentation format AND start working
on 2nd DUE DATE below.
2. DUE:
October 30, 2013
Research and Sources
Students will produce an annotated bibliography with
a minimum of 5 sources in MLA style.
Students need to
identify bias and reliability of sources and separate primary and
secondary
sources as well.
NEXT STEPS:
Start working toward the 3rd DUE DATE.
3. DUE:
November 13, 2013
Research and Development
Students will
demonstrate organizational research skills by producing evidence of a note
taking strategy (Cornell Notes, index cards) or computer generated data,
bookmarks.
(Students will utilize media center and ELA teachers for
resources and assistance.)
NEXT STEPS:
Make any revisions
based on teacher feedback. Start toward the 4th DUE
DATE.
4. DUE: December 4,
2013
Present and Evaluate
Students will synthesize research and develop a
thesis and a project introduction and conclusion.
NEXT
STEPS:
Students should make sure that they schedule their time
wisely approaching the holidays to make sure that they can meet
5th DUE date!
5. DUE: December 13, 2013
PROCESS PAPER
Process paper of 250-500 words due at this
time – including a working bibliography.
Students will
continue to work on finished product and prepare to present to teacher and
judges for evaluation and final grade.
NEXT STEPS:
Make
any revisions to your final projects that you need to. Check over the
contest rule requirements to make sure that your project fits ALL the criteria
for your type of project.
6. FINAL PROJECT DUE DATE!!! January 6, 2013
Students will submit projects in chosen
format!
